What's the hardest thing about finding information for you?
The hardest thing about finding information is that I can never find exactly what I need at first. It takes a lot of searching around websites for me to find the right information, and that's really time consuming. I always find what I need, but sometimes it just takes a while and that's pretty frustrating.

What do you think librarians do? What do you think would be really cool if librarians started doing it?
I think librarians are there to basically just help people when they need help finding information on books or computers, and also to just make sure everything is in order (books are shelved the right way, etc.) so that people can find what they need. I cant really think of anything that a librarian could do that would be cool, because I think they do what they're supposed to pretty sufficiently.

What do you think is the future of books? Do you think we'll ever see a future where everything is online? What are the advantages of books?
I really hate to say it, but I think its very possible that we'll see a future without books. I love reading, but I've noticed that less and less people seem to enjoy it. It reminds me of Farenheit 451 or 1984 or Brave New World; all books where reading has been banned. With the growing popularity of the Internet, there might be no need for books in the future, sad as it is. The advantage of books is that they are something tangible that the reader can actually hold, and they seem to mean more than just reading something from off the Internet.

What did you think was fun/useful/cool about MedlinePlus? What did you not like about MedlinePlus? Do you think you'll ever use it again? Why or why not?
I love MedlinePlus. I think it's really cool that you can actually see videos of procedures. I'm almost positive that I'll use it again, because I think it will come in handy if I want to see how a procedure works. Also, it might even help me decide if surgery is something I might want to consider as a profession.

What do you hope to study when you go to college? Why?
I hope to study a variety of things in college. However, I think I want to be a pre-med major with a focus in psychology. I'm not sure about this yet, but I'm positive I want to be in the healthcare field. I want to be a doctor, and I've always been interested in psychology. But I want to get the most out of the college experience and study as many things as I can.

What did you think about yesterday's class on Expert Googling? Did you try searching the Internet using some of the things that were taught? Did you notice a difference in the type of information you found?
I liked the class about expert Googling. I didn't know there were so many options you have access to with Google; normally I just type in the keywords of what I'm looking for. I found the cloudlet thing to be really helpful as well. I did try searching the Internet using what I was taught; the information I found seemed to be more accurate and specified to what I was actually looking for.

Finding accurate and/or factual information on the Internet is difficult. Why do you think that?
I think finding accurate or factual information on the Internet is difficult because there are a lot of fake websites. Many people post inaccurate or misleading information on the Internet to take advantage of people. So its difficult to find accurate information, but its not impossible. It just takes effort to find credible sources.

You made it through your first week of the HCPC program-- how do you feel about things?
I feel pretty good; however, I'm a little stressed because the workload is a little heavy. I feel like it'll be good preparation for college, but it's hard to keep up with all of the classes at once. I have learned a lot of new stuff that I think will be helpful in the future, so I think it's all worth the hard work.

What do you think about the spoof websites from today's class? Does it make you consider the Internet differently than you did before?
I think that spoof websites are really misleading, because there are people who believe everything they read. Also, some people get taken advantage of because of spoof websites; for example, people will give out personal information because they think the website is valid. It doesn't really make me think differently about the internet, because I already knew that there are scams on the internet, and I'm always careful about trusting what I read on the internet.

Do you seek out a librarian when you need help finding information for your homework? Why or why not?
I usually don't ask a librarian when I need help finding information for my homework. I used to go to the library often, but recently I find myself going less and less. I dont prefer it this way; I just dont always have the time to go to the library, and with the growing popularity of the Internet, its sometimes easier to just look up information online. I still greatly value the library (moreso than the Internet), and hopefully I'll make time to go there more often in the future!

When you have to write a paper for a class, where do you start researching information for your topic (i.e. do you Google? Go to Wikipedia? Or?)
When I have to write a paper, I usually go to Google. It seems to be the widest-known resource for information, and I can usually find a variety of sources for my research. Also, Google makes it a lot easier to find information because it leads you to a number of different websites, which is pretty helpful. Although I use Google often, I'd be willing to use other websites if I could find ones that adequately provide me with the variety of information that Google does.

Why do you think you have to attend library instruction classes?
I think library instruction classes will be very helpful for the future. In college, students are constantly in the library. As I plan to attend medical school, I know I will be spending a lot of time in the library. Library instruction classes will give me an advantage, since I'll be able to manuver my way around the library at my school. Hopefully it'll be easy for me to find information in the library after taking library instruction classes.
